Piper Optimist Basketball League Rules

KSHAA rules will apply, except where changes have been made as stated below:

  1. Each game will consist of four (4) 10 minute running clock quarters; with the following exception:
    • Clock will stop at all referee stoppage of play (blown whistle) during the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter
    • Clock will NOT stop during the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter if one team is leading by 10 or more points at the time of the referee stoppage (blown whistle).
  2. Each team will be allowed two (2) timeouts per GAME.
  3. Pressing
    • 3rd / 4th grade (boys and girls)
      • No full court pressing at any time during the game
      • No half court, single person (man to man) or double-team pressing is allowed above the "26 foot line" until the ball "passes" the "26 foot line" once.  (note: the "26 foot line" at the Elementary gym is between the half-court line and the top of the free-throw circle on the offensive end of the court). 
    • 5th / 6th grade (girls and boys)
      • Full court pressing is only allowed in the 4th quarter and only by a team(s) with less than a 10 point lead.  (example: both teams can press in the 4th quarter if neither team leads by more than 9 points, once one team leads by 10 or more points that team cannot press until the score difference falls back to 9 or less).
  4. Playing time
    • Every player must play TWO FULL QUARTERS - start to finish - of each game.
    • Every player shall sit out at least ONE FULL QUARTER - start to finish - of each game.
    • There is no 3-point line

COACHES - SHOW GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP & SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR ALL PLAYERS
